Compton Construction is a commercial construction company in Columbus, Ohio. While they specialize in a variety of projects types, Compton really loves building breweries. When they heard the legendary Scottish brewery, BrewDog, was coming to Columbus, they knew they had to make a pitch that would leave a lasting impression.

We worked closely with Compton and the Columbus Idea Foundry to create an unforgettable campaign. It was important that the design style was a unique Compton+BrewDog fusion to show partnership and to prove familiarity with the BrewDog brand and culture. With a lightning-fast turnaround and a few splinters, we created a one of a kind, hand-crafted experience.

All the pitch materials were packaged inside a custom, handmade wooden box. For a notable first impression, we crafted BrewDog-style graphics, highly detailed and beer-themed, to be laster-etched into the lid and integrated throughout the packaging.

To sweeten the deal, two bottles of Compton’s own homebrew were included in the package. The label design was a true merge of the Compton Construction and BrewDog brands. We wrote brand messaging for the label and book that was heavy on sarcasm to perfectly match BrewDog’s “stick-it-to-the-man” attitude

Along with the proposal, a book was included to highlight Compton’s history, experience, process, and culture—with plenty of personality. This piece also included unique, custom illustrations and graphics. As an added brand element, all twenty books were bound by hand with steel and screw posts to give the campaign some extra industrial character.

The judges of the 2015 American Advertising Awards agreed that this proposal stood out as being especially unique and strategic. The campaign won a Gold Addy for Product or Service Sales Promotion in Columbus and went on to win another Gold Addy in the district. It also won 1st place nationally in the SMPS 2016 Marketing Communications Awards.
